As I step into the world of freelance Community Strategy, I wanted my logo to be more than just a pretty picture—it had to have meaning.I've been told there's a little "overthinking" involved, and honestly? I do not disagree! 😄 I think it’s a positive here though and why not make it a slight visual love letter to the profession I have dedicated my working life to and all the amazing fellow community folks out there!?
1. Here’s to us - the community Professionals!
- The Inspiration: A salute, a gesture of respect and recognition.
- The Meaning: A salute to the many aspects of a community professional's role. We wear many hats: leader, listener, facilitator, and advocate. This acknowledges the dedication and professionalism required to do this complex work well.
2. The Communication Amplifier
- The Inspiration: A loud hailer 📣
- The Meaning: The logo's core shape outline represents how communication is at the core of what we do, working both internally and externally. My role is to boost the voices of the community, translate their needs to the organization, and amplify the organization's vision back to the community.
3. A Nod to the Rebels 🚀 ✊
- The Inspiration: The bold, curved red shape that creates a negative space circle, reminiscent of a well-known rebel alliance symbol from a famous sci-fi movie series ⭐🐦🔥
- The Meaning: This symbolizes the necessity of challenging the status quo to drive meaningful growth. I'm here to push boundaries, ask tough questions, and innovate within the community space.
- The resilience to keep on fighting the good fight
- The hope that we can strive for better an achieve it
- The renewal that has to happen with the fast changing industry we work in. The willingness to reinvent oneself and constantly seek growth to adapt, pivot and persist
4. Joining the Dots Reference 🔴🔴🔴
- The Inspiration: The 3 dots visual I use for my brand & a phrase the team I led at Ubisoft will have heard a lot of (go Team Clancy 🤜🤛)
- The Meaning: My strategic superpower is seeing the relationships, connections, and potential where others see only separate parts—connecting people, data, and opportunities to create a greater whole. ‘Join The Dots’ I used as a leader was to promote the need and power of all teams work together overlapping data, ensuring strategy is aligned and can complement and amplify what each aspect is doing. ‘creating, launching and sustaining a game takes a village’. In a community role we are uniquely positioned to bridge both publishing and production and a community team is an incredibly transversal one so often we can spot things and fill in the gaps by brining things together and sharing insight.
In a world full of noise, intentionality is a competitive advantage. By attaching this much meaning to my logo, I'm ensuring that the very foundation of my brand—a few simple shapes—is constantly reminding me of my core purpose. My brand is a promise, and every dot and line is a strategic commitment to the communities I serve. Overthought? Maybe. Deeply meaningful? Absolutely.
